The Gospel in the Old TestamentSample

The Gospel in the Old Testament

DAY 1 OF 14

I realize this Plan is called, “The Gospel in the Old Testament,” and I’m starting out by looking at verses in the New Testament. But this is simply a way of introduction to the Plan, and I think Peter summarized it best in these verses.

We are blessed to live on this side of the Cross. We are able to read the Gospels and see that Jesus lived a Perfect Life, died on the Cross for our sins, and then rose from the grave on the third day. We are able to read Paul’s writings in which he describes how we can be saved.

But the truth is, if we look back through the Old Testament, we see many stories and passages that show us that the Death and Resurrection of Jesus was no accident. It was God’s Plan all along. Nothing took Him by surprise. He was not shocked when the religious leaders plotted against Jesus. He was not amazed at the cruelty of the Romans. He did not make up the Plan as He went along. The Plan involving Jesus’ Life, Death, and Resurrection was always The Plan. As Peter states, “He was chosen before the foundation of the world.”

Some of these devotions will focus on verses of prophecy. Many prophets (such as David and Isaiah) wrote very specific verses about who the Messiah would be and what He would do. Many of the devotions will focus on stories found in the Old Testament. Through these stories, we will see how God was speaking to Mankind all along to show us His Plan to bring Salvation to His people.

There is far more than we could ever get to in a brief Bible study. But hopefully, this Plan will serve as a reminder of the Omnipotence and Omniscience of the God we serve. He knows all things past, present, and future, and He is able to make all things work together to accomplish His Will. He was Faithful to bring about our Salvation in exactly the way He said He would, and we know that we can trust Him in every area of our lives. I hope this Bible Plan will be used to draw you closer to Him.

Day 2

About this Plan
