Bring Your Broken Pieces (And Start New)

DAY 5 OF 7

Bring Your Dreams

Kelton used to think Christianity was boring. Now, he jams to worshipful rap. He’s living in the moment. Christian can be cool. In just seven weeks, Kelton’s life did a complete one-eighty all because of Jesus.

He had been in and out of church since he could walk. Eventually, he ignored the fact that he was Christian and filled his life with synthetic happiness: drugs, alcohol, strip clubs, and trap houses. He was only happy when he was doing the things he shouldn’t, but that happiness never lasted. It wasn’t long before he found himself incarcerated.

This isn’t working, he thought. He was so tired of sleeping on a steel bunk. He was done hearing the lady say, “You have two minutes,” when he was talking with his daughters. He decided to go to the judge with a plea to leave prison. Part of that deal was going to a recovery ministry. For a time, it seemed impossible, but finally, he was walking through the doors of a faith-based program with an open mind.

Then came the moment that transformed everything: during worship, he noticed a girl nearly the same age as his daughter on her knees, praising the Lord with hands pressed against the ground.

Kelton left the service and went to the back porch. He looked up at God. “I hear you. I’m answering the call.”

That was the moment he fully gave his life to Jesus; suddenly, everything was new. He wasn’t that alcoholic drug dealer anymore. He wasn’t that depressed, anxious man anymore. He was no longer hopeless. No, he is brand-new and going in a direction that is better than his wildest dreams.
