Growing up, music was my outlet in many ways. After surrendering my life to Jesus, I never imagined Christian rap would be part of my renewed walk. My only desire as a new believer was to flee from my past. Rapping, once a fun hobby, had been rooted in promoting sinful lifestyles, so I knew I had to surrender it. What I didn’t realize was how God intended to transform my gift for His glory.

Soon, I began waking up with melodies in my head and felt a creative fire in my soul. I started writing again, and the Holy Spirit gave me lyrics aligned with Scripture. God was reclaiming what the enemy had corrupted, using my music to reach the broken, hurt, angry, and lost. The rap I once used to glorify sin was now being used to build His kingdom.

As I grew in faith, I noticed how secular music hindered my relationship with Christ. Convicted, I turned to Psalms for healing and inspiration, especially the story of David. His vulnerability, worship, and obedience—even through battles—earned him the title “A man after God’s own heart.” Like David, I learned to be vulnerable with the Lord, trusting His promise of victory through obedience.

1 Corinthians 10:31 says,“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Music was created for worship, and as believers, we’re called to reclaim it. Through rap, I boldly proclaim the gospel. I’ve seen lives transformed—souls saved, hearts healed, and families restored—all through the music He gifted me.

If God has given you gifts, use them! Pray for direction, steward them faithfully, and watch Him work. All glory to the Most High!
