Collegiate Day of Prayer Global: 40-Day Prayer GuideSample
Day 1: Urgent and Desperate Prayer
By Jonathan “JP” Pokluda (JP is the lead pastor of Harris Creek Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, and former leader of The Porch. He lives with his wife, Monica, and their three children.)
“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near.”
– Isaiah 55:6
There’s an urgency in this verse that we can’t ignore. It’s a call to drop everything and seek God wholeheartedly, to let Him turn our distractions into devotion. Revival doesn’t start with grand actions; it begins with simple, desperate prayer—a desire for more of God and less of everything that keeps us from Him.
On campuses around the world, the stakes are high. So many young people face anxiety, loneliness, and pressure to find their worth in things that ultimately fade. In that same space, God invites us to pray and seek Him, to stand firm on His truth, and to trust that He can reach our friends, family, and peers who feel lost or overwhelmed.
What if we prayed as though every single heart around us could be awakened to the love and purpose of Jesus? Revival doesn’t wait—it begins the moment we ask God to move and say, “Start with me.”
PRAYER POINTS:
- Pray for revival on campuses. Ask God to bring revival to college campuses, igniting a passion for His Word and His purposes (Habakkuk 3:2).
- Pray for students to encounter Jesus. Pray for hearts to be open to Jesus, and for students to experience true belonging and identity in Him (John 10:10).
- Pray for endurance in faith. Pray for believers to stand firm, to grow in faith, and to be unwavering in their witness, trusting God’s power in every challenge (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
