I Love Jesus: 11-Day Devotional by Mac PowellSample
What would it look like if we lived every day of our lives for God?
In Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he wrote, “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”
This verse has had an enormous impact on my life and the way that I live every single day.
As believers, our calling is to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. We can follow Paul’s instructions if we commit ourselves to doing this daily.
When I reflect on that verse and my new song, “Go To My Grave,” it makes me think of all the saints who have gone before us:
Some of these saints were people from the Bible like Moses. When God got a hold of him, Moses began to live intentionally for God. Because of his commitment to God, the Lord led his people through Moses and did great miracles.
There are also more modern saints who have gone before us like Mother Theresa and Billy Graham who were committed to God and served him until their last breath.
I’m sure there are friends, family members, and mentors in your life you can think of who live their lives dedicated to the Lord. These people inspire us to draw closer to Jesus.
The lyrics of "Go To My Grave" are about having a commitment to live every day on this earth for God:
I will go to my grave
Singing about my Jesus
And for all of my days
I’ll let the whole world know
I will lift up his name
Until this heart stops beating
When I go to my grave
I’ll be going home
My song says “I’ll go to my grave,” but it’s not a song about death. It’s a song about life.
It’s about living with the blessing of life that God has given us to the absolute fullest.
Jesus told us in John 10:10 that he came to give us life and that we can have that life abundantly. So, let’s not miss out on the opportunity that he’s given us to serve him, serve others, and bring him honor and glory.
We are able to join in with God in what he’s doing around the world daily. What a blessing!
A challenge for you: Pray and ask yourself how you can live more for God today.
I pray that each of you would draw close to Jesus today and live this day for him.
Don’t wait for tomorrow!
