The Word of God is life.

My grandmother loves to read. But she doesn’t read a lot of books. She only reads one, the Bible. Early on I noticed that she doesn’t bother with any other book because she doesn’t trust them like she trusts her Bible. The Word of God is not just a set of instructions or stories from the past—it is life itself. Everything around us changes; flowers bloom and fade, seasons come and go, but the Word of God remains constant, unshakable, and eternal. While the things we see and experience may pass away, God’s Word endures forever, offering a firm foundation for our lives.

Jesus used the image of a fig tree to teach about recognizing signs of change in the world, but He made it clear that even though heaven and earth may fade, His words will not. This reminds us that the truth found in God’s Word is timeless, powerful, and relevant in every generation.

The writer of Hebrews emphasizes that the Word of God is living and active. It penetrates deeply into our hearts, discerning our thoughts, challenging our motivations, and transforming us from within. It’s not just a historical text—it is the very breath of life that continues to guide, convict, and encourage us every day.

When we engage with God’s Word, we encounter a life-giving force that leads us into deeper rest and understanding, offering us the hope and strength we need to navigate life’s challenges.
