On Earth as It Is in HeavenSample
Day 3: Growing In the Fruit of the Spirit
The more we get to know God, the more we are compelled to become like him. Knowing his love, grace, and sacrifice should create in us a desire to reflect him in our daily lives. As followers of Jesus, we should want to love like he loves, show kindness like he does, and live with patience, joy, and peace. But the truth is, we can’t do this on our own! Simply trying harder or attempting to use our willpower won’t get us too far. We need help—and that help comes from the Holy Spirit!
Jesus tells us in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” The fruit he talks about isn’t something we can produce ourselves—it’s the evidence of his Spirit working in us. When we remain connected to him—when we abide in his presence—his Spirit works in us. He grows the fruit of the Spirit within us—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Growing this fruit isn’t a one-time event; it’s a daily process. As we get to know God more deeply, he produces more and more fruit. As we choose to surrender to God each day, the Holy Spirit changes us, shapes us, and helps us bear fruit in every area of our lives.
Questions to reflect on:
- How has God’s love stirred your desire to become more like Jesus?
- Where do you need the Holy Spirit to grow fruit in your life?
- How can you abide more deeply in Jesus and allow Him to work in you today?
