Reign

DAY 27 OF 30

The crowd was thick. She knew there was no way she could ever get close to Jesus—at least not without making everyone she brushed up against, bumped into, or accidentally touched ceremonially unclean. She had been bleeding for twelve years. Twelve. Long. Years. She had seen plenty of doctors, and she had tried more medicines and special procedures than she could count. But nothing worked. She kept right on bleeding, contaminating everyone and everything she came in contact with. It was a living nightmare—her living nightmare. But then she heard about Jesus and all the people He had healed. If only she could get close to Him, to perhaps touch the hem of His garment, then He could heal her too.

It was a risky move. If she were to wind her way through the crowd and someone recognized her, she could be in big trouble. And touching Jesus? Well, that would mean making Him unclean. But somehow, she knew that nothing could make this Man unclean. He was different. When she did make her way through the lively crowd and grasped the tassel of Jesus’ cloak, she discovered she was right. Supernatural healing power flowed out of Him and into her, and the bleeding stopped. Over the years, she had lost count of how many times she had prayed for healing. When it didn’t come, she was tempted to stop asking. But instead, she held onto her faith. She took hold of God’s goodness. She just kept believing. She just kept hoping. She just kept trusting. And she never looked back.

If you’ve got a prayer request that keeps going on and on and on—stay faithful. Keep asking. Keep trusting. Keep hoping. Your faithfulness means so much to God. And your breakthrough is coming—just keep holding on.

About this Plan

Reign

History tells many stories of drama regarding kings and queens. This governmental system of power and our fascination with it has existed throughout history—even in Biblical times. In this devotional, we’re going to take a closer look at some of the reigns of the kings who ruled over God’s people and what we can learn from the lives and reigns of the people who led God’s people over the centuries.
