Get Up: Leading After Failure a 5 - Day Plan by Joy OguntimeinSample
Strengthening Others
When we open up about our failures, we invite vulnerability, authenticity, and meaningful connection into our lives. By sharing our experiences, we not only grow ourselves but also help others avoid similar pitfalls. We’ve all stumbled—whether it’s a personal setback, a work blunder, or letting someone down. It hurts, and the instinct is often to hide, but true healing happens when we bring it to light. As the saying goes, “What is revealed is healed.” Take it from me: I once jumped headfirst into a big project without the proper groundwork, and it completely backfired. Embarrassed, I wanted to pretend it never happened, but sharing my missteps actually helped others avoid the same trap. That experience taught me the value of prayer, preparation, and doing the homework. Our mistakes give us the chance to say, “I’ve been there, and here’s what I learned,” creating a space where everyone can grow together.
Jesus knew this, which is why in Luke 22:32, He tells Peter, “But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” This wasn’t just about Peter’s recovery; it was a call to turn his experience into a tool for uplifting others. After reconciling with Jesus, Peter embraced his leadership role among the disciples. He led with courage, guiding others and sharing the message of grace boldly—even to thousands in Jerusalem. When facing persecution, he stood firm, writing letters to encourage others in their faith. Peter’s journey shows us that failure can lead to incredible growth, not only for us but for everyone around us.
Just like Peter, who went from denying Jesus to helping build the early church, we too can come back stronger, equipped with renewed purpose and wisdom. The next time you stumble, remember that your story can strengthen someone else’s faith. Jesus works through you, even when you feel like you have nothing left to give. He calls you not only to be restored but also to help others heal through your experiences. Embracing grace after a setback lets us lead with resilience and empathy, turning our mistakes into testimonies that inspire. Guilt and shame are just extra baggage that slows us down. So, receive God’s grace, leave that baggage behind, and step boldly into what’s next. You have places to go and people to lead—so get up and go!
