We all feel it sometimes - fear. We’re afraid we didn’t study enough so we fail the big test. We’re afraid of not fitting in at our new school. It’s overwhelming to experience fear, sometimes it’s so difficult to overcome that it may stop us from doing things we really want to do. But here’s some great news: fear has no place in God’s love!

In 1 John 4, we read that “There is no fear in love.” Think about that for a minute. Love from God is perfect, and when we fully understand the lengths and depths of His love for us, we can push away our fear. God’s plan for us is to live bold and confident lives, knowing He’s always by our sides.

Think about standing on the edge of a diving board at the pool. It’s scary taking a big leap into the unknown, but you suddenly realize that the people that love you are behind you, cheering you on as you take a giant leap. That’s what God’s love is like. He encourages us to jump into things that are scary, knowing He’s always close enough to catch us.

• Bottom Line: Fear has no place in God’s love. His perfect love casts out fear.
• Response: Think of something that makes you feel afraid, and surrender it to God. Ask him to replace that fear with His love.
