Divine Identity: Understanding God Through His NamesSample
Day 2: Jehovah - The Self-Existent One
Jehovah is derived from Yahweh, which means “I AM WHO I AM.” This name reveals God’s self-existence and eternal nature. Unlike humans who depend on various factors for existence, Jehovah exists independently and eternally. This name was revealed to Moses at the burning bush when God commissioned him to lead Israel out of Egypt.
Incorporating Jehovah into our prayers helps us recognize God’s unchanging nature amidst life’s uncertainties. When we call upon Jehovah, we affirm that He is constant and reliable. Reflecting on Exodus 3:14 encourages us to trust in God’s eternal presence in our lives, knowing that He remains steadfast even when everything else changes.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Jehovah, the Self-Existent One, we come before You in gratitude for Your eternal presence in our lives. Thank You for revealing Yourself to us as the I AM WHO I AM. Help us to trust in Your unchanging nature amidst the uncertainties we face. May we find peace and strength in knowing that You are always with us, guiding and supporting us. We ask for Your wisdom as we navigate our challenges, and may our hearts be anchored in Your steadfast love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
