Day 6: Luke 7-16
Arabella Barnum-Bobb, Au Pair + UR Women’s Ministry Volunteer at UPPERROOM
“Daughter, your faith has healed you; go in peace.”(Luke 8:48)
“I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”(Luke 7:9)
“Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”(Luke 7:50)
Woven throughout these chapters is a beautiful thread of faith. Whether it was Jesus calling the disciples to follow Him and leave everything behind, Mary pouring out her costly perfume, or the centurion believing in healing for his servant, each story reveals a unique expression of faith. It’s a beautiful journey for each of them.
Faith brought healing. Faith paved the way for breakthrough. Through faith, there was an extravagant exchange of love. Faith brought nearness.
The faith of these individuals invites us into greater faith in our own lives. Do I have the same faith as the woman with the issue of blood, who simply wanted to touch the edge of Jesus’ garment? Just one touch and she knew she would be healed—simply because of who she was touching.
What if we truly knew who our Father was? How would we act?
“Where is your faith?”(Luke 8:25)
“How much more will He clothe you—O you of little faith!”(Luke 12:28)
There is a contrast in these stories where Jesus challenges those with “little faith.” Faith is the evidence of things unseen. These scriptures remind us of the importance of faith, especially when our circumstances seem impossible.
Prayer: Jesus, I thank You for the gift of faith. Stir up fresh faith in us to believe for You to move in the impossible in every area of our lives. Reveal to us today the places in our hearts where we need fresh faith. We yield our lives afresh to the Giver of faith—Jesus.
