Fear Is Not My Future | 21 Days of Prayer and FastingSample
Fear of the unknown can be crippling. You might ask, “What if people at work really knew about my love for Jesus?” “What if Christians start being brutally persecuted in our country?” “What if fearful situations are going to cloud my future?
Notice the word “if” in this verse. It does not say “you must suffer” or “you will suffer.” Peter leaves the suffering part open-ended. Because it really does not matter if you do or do not suffer for Jesus' sake. You are simply given a promise. If you suffer for the sake of right living you will be blessed. Suffering is not the goal. Righteous living is. The “what if” loses its power in light of God’s promises when we walk with Him. God’s blessings have the final say on our lives, and ultimately blessings lead us to a deep love for the Giver.
We are not to fear what man may do to us because of their hatred toward our desire for righteousness. Do not fret about what man may say to you. Dwell in the knowledge of Christ and His holiness. Walk with humility and be kind and respectful to people who may mean you harm. Bless those who curse you and you will receive blessing.
Bear in mind that blessings are not for your selfish gain. True blessings bring glory to God. Whatever good things that God gives to us; we are to give Him glory for them. And in doing good, we may suffer if that is God's will. Whatever the case may be, ask God to bless you so that you can know Him deeply.
Take 5 minutes to pray for your enemies and ask God to rid you of your fear of them. Then plan something kind to say when you see them next.
