Find & Follow Jesus, Quarter 1Sample
Week 11
(Numbers 17–30, Psalm 30–31, Proverb 6, Romans 16, Matthew 1–6)
Devotional
In Matthew 6, when Jesus taught the disciples how to pray, He provided not only a guide for how to pray but also a framework for how to approach life. He began by addressing God as our Father, acknowledging His holiness. Jesus then prayed for God’s Kingdom to come and for His will to be done—reminding us that God is our first source of provision. He highlighted the importance of forgiveness, remembering that we live in community, and concluded with a call to recognize the spiritual battles we face each day, asking for strength to overcome the footholds in our lives before they become strongholds. By modeling both our prayers and daily lives after this example, we can align ourselves more closely with God’s heart.
Prayer
The themes of the Lord’s Prayer are being lifted up by believers around the world every day. Join thousands of Christ followers by praying these themes:
- Sundays - Our Father (our position before God as sons and daughters)
- Mondays - Hallowed be Your Name (for the increase of God’s fame and praise of His holiness)
- Tuesdays - Your Kingdom come, will be done (for His Supremacy and reign)
- Wednesdays - Give us our daily bread (for living in dependence on the Lord above all else)
- Thursdays - Forgive us as we forgive others (a heartfelt response to the Gospel and to others)
- Fridays - Lead us not into temptation (to turn away from deception and sin and look to Him)
- Saturdays - Yours is the Kingdom, power, and glory (our proclamation and praise)
(If you’d like, check out the Lord’s Prayer app on your phone to have a daily tool for praying these themes.)
About this Plan
Follow our quarterly plans to read through the entire Bible in one year, plus a bonus round through the Gospels and Romans. Each day has one verse we encourage you to write down, journal about, or memorize, and then you can read sections from both the Old Testament and New Testament. Every week we provide an additional devotional for further discussion on that week's themes.
