Find & Follow Jesus, Quarter 1

DAY 47 OF 90

Week 8
(Leviticus 3–16, Psalm 21–23, Proverbs 4, Acts 23–28, Romans 1)

Devotional
The Psalms reflect the full range of human emotion, and reading them can feel like an emotional rollercoaster. For example, Psalm 22 captures David’s raw loneliness and fear, as he feels distant from God, while Psalm 23 offers one of the most comforting and beloved images of God as our Shepherd. These contrasting psalms remind us that, like David, our emotions and circumstances can swing rapidly from day to day.

What’s beautiful is that God welcomes both the cries of Psalm 22 and the praises of Psalm 23. In Psalm 22:2-3, David models godly sorrow when he says, “I find no rest…Yet you are holy.” It’s okay to struggle and pour out our hearts to God, but it’s also important to remember who He is. The early church leaders in Acts demonstrated this balance, using prayer and worship as both their weapon and defense in times of hardship. God doesn’t just want to hear our complaints; He desires our words of worship and thanksgiving. Not because He needs them, but because we need to remember His goodness and faithfulness.

Prayer
This week, set aside time to pour out your heart to God. Share your deepest fears, longings, and frustrations, just as David did in the Psalms. Be raw and honest—God can handle it. Then, balance those cries with prayers of thanksgiving and praise. Spend time focusing solely on what you love about God’s character and the ways He walks with you each day. Let your prayers remind you of His faithfulness and presence in both the highs and lows of life.

About this Plan

Find & Follow Jesus, Quarter 1

Follow our quarterly plans to read through the entire Bible in one year, plus a bonus round through the Gospels and Romans. Each day has one verse we encourage you to write down, journal about, or memorize, and then you can read sections from both the Old Testament and New Testament. Every week we provide an additional devotional for further discussion on that week's themes.
