Living in Increase (Part 5) - Increase in FaithSample

Week 4: The Power of Salvation
By Grace
This week, we are discussing the power of salvation through Jesus. The word “saved” in Ephesians 2:8 is the Greek word sōzō in the original text. This word means to “save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction.” In the theological sense, sōzō means to “deliver from the penalties of Messianic judgment.” While salvation through Jesus introduces us to God’s governance, rule, and reign over our lives, which keeps us safe and away from danger, salvation is more than that. Salvation through Jesus delivers us from judgment, which the Bible says we will all face one day when we die (Revelation 20:11-13). However, the power of Salvation through Jesus ensures our name in the Book of Life, which means we will live forever with God in heaven!
Romans 6:23 says that the “wages of sin are death,” but “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” While our sin made us dead, and we deserve to suffer the penalties of judgment because of our sinful nature, when we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we received the gift of eternal life.
Thank God for the power of salvation through Jesus!
