His Changing Seasons...
There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven—
Ecclesiastes 3:1 AMP
The natural seasons and rhythms of God’s created world speak volumes to our subject of newness. From summer to autumn, from winter to spring. And the seasons of humanity that we all experience—birth to toddlerhood, adolescence to adulthood—also focus our attention on the dance of various chapters in our lives that close and open, open and close.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s difficult when it seems I am caught in flux and uncertainty. When God is closing one curtain on an area of my life, and the next new curtain still seems tightly shut, it can be like a tulip bulb that doesn’t know whether to sprout or stay hidden because of an unexpected frost or a bright sunny day. Yes, the change of seasons or scenery in our lives can be challenging.
There are just times when we need to stop or quit something because, frankly, its season of fruitfulness or health is just plain over. And we won’t be able to reach out and grasp God’s new thing for us if the hands of our hearts are still gripping tightly to something that is, well, finished. Done. Kaput. God’s grace has lifted on that old thing, but we are too afraid to let go of it. What will He replace it with? However, that is actually an excellent place to be.
We never stop needing to live by faith in the One Who is Everything. And we need ruthless faith when Jesus asks us to quit that job, relationship, or direction. Honestly! Our flesh may not like this, but this side of heaven, is there any other way to live? Because, as the Scriptures tell us, there are appointed seasons and cycles directed by His loving hand alone.
So, ask yourself if you are still clinging to something He says to leave behind. Let’s quit dallying when He is up to something new. Because we don’t want to miss what He is doing next. Winter will turn to spring.
