Reading With the People of God #9 - FaithfulnessSample
Memorization Challenge:
13 And now behold the king whom you have chosen, for whom you have asked; behold, the Lord has set a king over you. 14 If you will fear the Lord and serve him and obey his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, and if both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God, it will be well. 15 But if you will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then the hand of the LORD will be against you and your king. - Samuel 12:13-15
Primer:
In today's readings, we see God’s faithfulness in choosing and sustaining His people. Saul is chosen as Israel’s first king, and Jesus speaks of His role as the bread of life, offering eternal life to those who trust in Him. Both stories remind us that God’s faithfulness includes both His sovereign calling and His sustaining grace. We are invited to trust in God’s faithful provision for the journey ahead.
Question to reflect on: How can you rely on God’s faithfulness to sustain you in your daily walk with Him?

About this Plan
This is the ninth installment of a Bible reading plan following the lectionary pattern, with daily readings from the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament. This month features a daily memorization challenge centered on the theme of faithfulness, drawn from Samuel’s charge to the people as they prepare for their new king. Additionally, each day includes devotional primers to help prepare your heart and mind for the readings.
