The Jesus Adventure

DAY 5 OF 7

Taking an adventure means going to new places and doing new things. If you had done it before, it would be routine, not adventure. So, it means taking risks and being uncomfortable, even though it may also be exciting. If there were nothing to lose, there would be nothing to gain.

Every one of us who decides to follow Jesus has a testimony, a story of God’s work in our lives. What is yours? Think about it. Whether you have just begun or have been learning to follow Him for a long time, God has been at work in your life in many ways.

Something has happened in your heart; otherwise, you wouldn’t have read this far. Consider writing this down, even if you have only just begun doing Jesus’ teachings because Jesus has begun a powerful work in you. And if He has begun it, then He will continue to do that work to completion.

The next step is to give glory to God and actively join Him in His work. We know this change is real when we are willing to share our story with people who know us. Consider your situation: Can you say that the peace of God has come to you? Can you say that you have experienced God’s forgiveness and redemption? Are you accepting His call to leave darkness and walk in the light of Jesus?

If so, then the most appropriate thing to do is tell people! Tell people who know you about what God has done. Who knows? Maybe they are hungry to hear of the hope and confidence in Jesus too.

As the adventure takes shape, we experience more of the Spirit of Christ. Part of continuing that powerful work is to go and tell others what God has done. As Jesus says, “Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8, MEV).

Since Jesus has commissioned us to do greater things, and we have an imperative instruction to go into the world with our testimonies and His teachings, we have to ask: how? That is a task much greater than is possible for mere humans. We cannot possibly fulfill it on our own. Fortunately, we are never on our own.
