A Year in Luke/ActsSample
Have you ever excitedly told someone an amazing story, to which they replied “Oh, that’s great!” and then promptly changed the subject as if their mind was elsewhere? It seems like this happened to Paul when he met with James. He eagerly shares about all he has seen the Spirit doing among the Gentiles, but James is keen to try and manage the situation amongst the Jews in Jerusalem. As the leader of the church there, it is of course understandable that he is thinking about this since “any mention of Paul will be like a match thrown into a box of fireworks.” (Wright, p126, The Challenge of Acts)
