A Year in Luke/ActsSample

A Year in Luke/Acts

DAY 155 OF 364

When Jesus is brought before Pilate lies are told about Him encouraging people not to pay taxes. We saw in Luke 20 that Jesus says people should give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.

He is then sent off to Herod whose mockery and questions He does not even dignify with a response. Notice how Luke notes that it is these trials of Jesus that cause Pilate and Herod to realize they have more in common than they had thought, and become friends as a result.

It is an example of how Earthly kingdoms, despite their disagreements with one another, often find themselves united against Jesus’ view of what Kingdom is because it would require relinquishing their power to Him.
