The Bible OverBrew - Bible in a Year

DAY 101 OF 365

Week 15. Day 3. 2 Kings 1-4.

2 Kings 1 Notice references to God’s word (and refusing to hear God’s word) in this narrative.

The king sending solders to Elijah is an attempt to oppose God’s word, hence the severity of the judgment that falls.

2 Kings 2. Elisha takes over from Elijah. In the Elisha stories in the following chapters, notice how Elisha is repeatedly presented as a new Elijah - doing similar things to what Elijah did. Also continue to look out for references to God’s word.

In this section there are continued narratives of all the battles that are happening (e.g. ch3, and again in ch6-8) but getting to grips with all the details of these is less important than spending time in the narratives with Elisha.

Ch 4 What miracles happen? Why are they recorded, and what do you think the point of these is?

NOTE: Days 1-5 of each week contain the scripture reading for that week. Day 6 has just the 'key chapters'. If you want a briefer version of this plan that still takes you through the whole Bible, you could just read the key chapters featured on day 6. Day 7 has the podcast video where we discuss the week's reading.

About this Plan

The Bible OverBrew - Bible in a Year

The Bible OverBrew is a friendly virtual book group, helping you read the Bible in big chunks, preferably with a mug of tea! Maybe you've tried to read through the Bible before, but gave up when it felt confusing or too intense? We are here to help you! We provide notes and questions to guide your reading, and note ‘key chapters’ if you don’t have time to read it all. In our podcast at the end of each week we draw out the key themes, and how it all points to Christ. We’d love you to join us!
