We Would Be One

In a poignant prayer, Jesus intercedes for His disciples and all believers, asking for unity among them as He and the Father are one. He expresses His desire for them to experience His glory and love, emphasizing the mission of spreading the Gospel. As Jesus prepared for the final step of His assignment, His heart was set on you. It was set on you and all those who would believe in His name. His lasting desire was for us to be one, just as He is one with the Father.

This chapter encapsulates the heart of Jesus’ mission: the desire for a united body of believers reflecting His love. He patterned His life after the Father. As we have read throughout this study, Jesus only did and said what He heard and saw the Father do. We are to do the same. Our unity reflects His love and serves as a testimony to the world of His transformative power.

As you grow closer to Him, let His love flow through you, bringing hope and healing to those around you. Reflect on your relationships—are there areas where you can foster greater unity with the believers with whom you are in a covenant relationship? Act and speak as if you are one with the Father and allow the Holy Spirit to move through you to them in love.
