Day 12 Renewal Readings
The Attributes of God
Your lovingkindness, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like a great deep. O Lord, You preserve man and beast. How priceless is Your lovingkindness, O God! The children of men find refuge in the shadow of Your wings. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. (Psalm 36:5–7, 9)
The Lord’s lovingkindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord! (Psalm 117:2)
The Works of God
The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong; and the lowly things of this world and the despised things God has chosen, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him. (1 Corinthians 1:25, 27–29)
The Lord said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Revelation 3:20–21)
My Relationship to God
Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in You my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of Your wings until destruction passes by. I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me. (Psalm 57:1–2)
This is what the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation; in quietness and trust is your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15)
The Character I Want to Cultivate
You desire mercy, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. (Hosea 6:6)
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. (Matthew 5:7)
My Relationship to Others
I will honor my father and my mother. (Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16)
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who begets a wise son will be glad in him. May my father and mother be glad; may she who gave me birth rejoice. (Proverbs 23:24–25)
