Finding Courage in the StormSample

Reflect: Meditatio (Part 1)
Once again, become still and quiet. Ask God's Spirit to guide your reading today. Take a moment to recall what stood out to you yesterday when you read the passage.
Slowly read the passage again today, then reflect on these questions and cues:
1. Picture the wind storm. Imagine the disciples in a furious windstorm with their boat filling up with water. What might they have been doing? What feelings might the disciples have had?
2. Picture the moment after Jesus calmed the storm. Imagine the disciples at this moment: "Then the wind died down and it was completely calm" (v 39). They are able to stand up without holding on to something. The waves are calm. What might they be thinking or feeling at this point?
3. Picture Jesus speaking. Consider the many different ways Jesus could have said, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
Slowly read the passage, then reflect on these questions and cues: Do you see yourself in one or more of the disciples in the painting?
