Down to Earth: A Christmas Devotional Journey

DAY 20 OF 25

Day 20: The Best Is Yet To Come

Reflection

Have you ever found yourself doomscrolling – endlessly consuming negative news headlines on your phone until your mind’s spinning and you’re seriously anxious? This world is so broken; there’s a never-ending stream of heartbreaking stories to consume. In fact, in our conflict-stricken world, it’s hard to imagine a time when peace will reign – when wars will cease, and people will live in harmony with each other. But when Jesus, the Prince of Peace returns, that’s exactly what life will be like.

As His followers, we can experience a foretaste of this Perfect Peace now. Jesus, our Prince of Peace, came down to Earth to give us Peace – Eternal Peace with our Heavenly Father and Present Peace amidst tribulations.

But the invitation extends even further. We’re also invited to extend Jesus’ Peace to all those we encounter, in the small things and the big. You might choose to forgive a colleague after they let you down, so a small issue doesn’t escalate into a full-blown row; keep on top of your hedge-trimming to preserve warm relations with your neighbor; or work with excellence in your diplomatic role as you foster dialogue, build alliances, and promote understanding on an international scale.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for sharing Your Perfect Peace with me. Please help me to be a Peacemaker and a Peace-Bringer this week at home, at work, and in my neighborhood. Amen.

Down to Earth: A Christmas Devotional Journey

Reflect on our "down to earth" Savior – the Jesus who stepped into the mess and detail of life on Earth, and calls us to do the same.
