DAY 2 OF 3

A Song of Praise to the Creator

Psalm 65 is a song David wrote for God. From verse 8 onward, David begins to describe who God is. One of the first things David declares is that God answers prayer with awesome deeds and righteousness. Has God answered your prayers with just a nod, or has He acted on your behalf? Has He performed an awesome deed in answer to a prayer?

David describes the Lord as the God of our salvation. As the one who established the mountains by his strength and clothed them with power, who stills the noise of the seas, the noise of the waves, and the chaos of the people. Those who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Him. They don’t understand His magnificence. He makes the dawn and the nightfall rejoice.

Sunsets and sunrises in the town of Midland, Texas, are a sight to behold. The magnificent colors are incomparable. Scientists have found that the gorgeous hues are caused by the dust and dirt in the air. This is amazing! God can even take the dirt off the ground and make out of it extraordinary sunrises and sunsets with unimaginable colors.

The Lord is great and worthy to be praised. In Hebrews, we are told that God made all of creation through Jesus. Even today, having purged our sins, Jesus upholds all things by the word of His power.

In Philippians, Paul tells us that Jesus is the one to whom every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord, to the glorious honor of the Father!

This song is about a big God who speaks, and it is done; who commands, and it stands fast; who knows how to show Himself strong on behalf of those who fear Him. The Lord is the Creator King!

What is your song about? What has He created for you? How has He been a big God through you? Has He created salvation? Has He created hope? Has He created a family? Has He created a job? Has He created reconciliation in relationships? Has He created hope for the future? Mercy? Has He created an eternal place for you?

Write down what this magnificent, big God has created specifically for you.

Lord, You are writing a new song in me every day. Thank you for Your greatness, Your goodness, and Your love. Keep us from forgetting Your great and mighty deeds.
