Biblical Money Wisdom for College StudentsSample
Hey Friend!
Let's wrap this up by talking about a topic that might seem counterintuitive when you're living on ramen and dreams: generosity.
In Acts 20:35, we're reminded of Jesus' words:
"It is more blessed to give than to receive."
I understand that it looks and feels difficult to give when it seems like you can hardly take care of yourself, but let me remind you:
Generosity isn't about the amount; it's about the heart.
It can be as simple as buying a drink for a stressed-out classmate or volunteering at a local food bank.
These acts of giving can shift your perspective from scarcity to abundance.
Proverbs 3:9-10 offers this intriguing promise:
"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."
In college terms, maybe that means setting aside a small portion of your work-study check for a cause you care about.
It's about prioritizing giving, even when money is tight.
Lastly, let's consider Jesus' words in Matthew 6:21:
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
This is a call to examine our priorities. Are we more concerned with accumulating stuff or with making a difference?
It's easy to get caught up in keeping up with the latest trends, but true fulfillment comes from aligning our resources with our values.
Your final challenge: Find one way to be generous this week, no matter how small. Then, take a look at your spending over the past month. What does it say about your priorities? Are there any adjustments you want to make?
As you navigate the financial waters of college life, remember that your choices now are shaping your future relationship with money.
By cultivating wisdom, diligence, and generosity, you're not just managing your finances – you're investing in the person you're becoming.
May God bless you in your Collegiate journey!
Let's pray: God, thank You for the opportunity to learn and grow during these college years. Guide me in managing my resources wisely, working diligently, and giving generously. Help me to trust You with my finances and to use what I have in ways that honor You. Give me discernment in my financial decisions and the courage to live out my faith in all areas of my life, including my wallet.
Amen.
