Can long-distance relationships work? š¤
Do you have distant friends or far-away relatives? Until recently, I lived away from my family, in another country for over 10 years, and I missed them a lot!
An essential aspect of every relationship is proximity: being close to the person you love. Anyone who has ever been in a long-distance relationship will tell you that itās not easy!
The beauty of Godās omnipresence is that He is near you, no matter where you are!
God wants to be close to you, and the beauty of His omnipresence is that He can be near you no matter where you are!
āThe Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in His love, He will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.ā (Zephaniah 3:17)
God places such importance on us knowing He is close, that one of the names He gave his Son Jesus, was āImmanuelā, meaning āGod with usā. (Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 7:14)
The Bible says that God collects our tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). To collect someoneās tears, you must be incredibly close to them. It is a true act of tenderness and intimacy.
But it goes even further. God doesnāt just want to be close to you, He desires to be within you and one with you through Jesus!
In John 17:22-23 Jesus says: āI have given them the glory that You gave Me, that they may be one as We are one ā I in them and You in Meā.
While your family or friends might be far away, God is always near you. He is not a distant or detached deity; He longs to be intimately close to you!
