Names of Christ: An Advent DevotionSample

Only Begotten Son
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. -John 3:16 NKJV
John 3:16 is one of the most popular and famous verses in all the Bible. You'll see it written on fast-food paper cups. It's held up in football stadiums on great big signs. And Tim Tebow wrote it right under his eyes, John 3:16, as he played football. It's a verse that we know and love.
These particular words are so perfect for Christmas because they describe the great relationship and the great gift that God has given to us. God has given us his Son, Jesus.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. He gave us this wonderful gift of Jesus so that we would be able to live with Him and live with the Lord forever and ever.
I pray this Christmas season that you will really seek the Lord, that you will receive the gift of Jesus, and that you will have a very Merry Christmas.
