Reclaiming Your Spiritual FireSample
Day 1: Release and Refocus on Christ
One of the greatest threats to your spiritual passion is holding onto past hurts. Whether it’s an offense, betrayal, or disappointment, when we don’t process these experiences properly, they can weigh down our hearts and drain our spiritual vitality. The writer of Hebrews encourages us to “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Forgiveness is a crucial step in reclaiming your spiritual fire. When you forgive those who’ve hurt you, you release yourself from the burden of bitterness and open the door for healing and renewal. Forgiveness doesn’t minimize the pain or excuse the wrong, but it frees you to move forward, unencumbered by resentment. Jesus, who endured the Cross for the Joy set before Him, is our Ultimate Example of forgiveness and perseverance.
Take time today to reflect on anyone you need to forgive. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you release those hurts and refocus on Christ. When you shift your attention back to Jesus, the Source of your strength and passion, your fire will begin to be reignited.
