God's Fathers - Questions for FathersSample
Can your children see God the Father in you?
This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: ‘May the LORD bless you and keep you; may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; may the LORD lift up His countenance toward you and give you peace.’ So they shall put My name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” (Numbers 6:23-27).
What characteristics of God the Father do your children see in you?
Are you praying for your child's salvation?
Do you pray God's blessing on them as often as possible?
Do you teach them about God the Father? From Jesus? Of the Holy Spirit?
Are you teaching them about the power of the Holy Spirit? Can they see Jesus in your life and in how the Holy Spirit works powerfully through you (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:18)?
Are you teaching your child to seek the will of God instead of just doing their own thing?
Are you praying for your child? How often? Are you praying "enough" to make your son a man of God and your daughter a God-Fearing Woman?
Are you teaching your child how to pray, talk to God and listen to Him?
Are your words true and reliable – can your children trust your words? Do you keep your word when you have made a promise to them or other people?
Are you teaching your children that there are things in life that are non-negotiable? The world says: Everything has a price. It is said that given enough money or benefits, people will give up everything to obtain it. You teach your children that there are things that cannot be bought or sold, no matter what the selling price or offer is. There was a day when the devil came to Jesus in the wilderness and said that he would give Him all the riches and all the kingdoms of the world, all the power and majesty, if Jesus would just bow down to him and worship Him. Jesus answered, It is written: “Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him alone" (Luke 4:5-8).
Ask your children this: if they were a father, what would be the most important thing they would do?
Are you trying to help your child perform and live as well as possible, or are you constantly telling them that they're not good enough and that they aren't actually special? Are you secretly competing with your child so that you won't look so bad?
