On a mission

In today's scripture, Jesus is talking to his disciples, some of his closest friends, and he sends them out on a mission. He asks them to go into the world, to all nations, and make disciples. To make disciples means to lead others to faith in Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their relationship with him. It involves not only sharing the gospel and inviting others to meet Jesus, but also guiding and mentoring them in their spiritual journey.

You might not feel like you are equipped or experienced enough to mentor others, but we can all share out faith. Jesus doesn't say, 'wait' until you have memorised the Bible or 'hesitate' until your personal problems have been sorted out. He says 'Now go' - in the middle of your mess and regardless of your experience. Go and share your faith with others in words and action.

Over the next seven days, we will journey together as we unpack the topic of 'evangelisation', the act of sharing the good news of Jesus with others. Telling others about Jesus isn't always easy, but if you are a Christian and know the love of God, it means someone once shared the good news with you. We will explore some tools and biblical principles together so that we can share the life-changing love of Jesus with others.
