Lost Kings | Leadership in Strength, Love, and Wisdom

DAY 2 OF 7

Our bodies are remarkable creations, intricately designed by God. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, we are reminded that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. This profound truth should shape the way we view and treat our physical selves. Honoring God with our bodies involves more than abstaining from harmful practices; it also means actively caring for and maintaining our physical health. When we engage in physical fitness, we honor the Creator who intricately designed us and entrusted us with these bodies.

Physical fitness as an act of worship is about stewardship. In Genesis 1:27, we learn that we are created in the image of God. Part of reflecting His image is taking care of the vessel He has given us. When we prioritize our health through exercise, nutrition, and rest, we are being good stewards of the gift of our bodies. This stewardship is a form of worship, acknowledging that our bodies are not our own, but God's. In Romans 12:1, Paul urges us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is our true and proper worship.

Physical fitness also equips us to serve God more effectively. In 1 Timothy 4:8, Paul writes, "For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." While spiritual growth is paramount, physical health enables us to carry out God's work with energy and endurance. When we are fit and healthy, we have more vitality to serve our families, communities, and churches. By maintaining our physical health, we are better prepared to fulfill the callings God has placed on our lives.

Consider the practical ways you can incorporate physical fitness into your daily routine. This might involve setting aside time for regular exercise, choosing nutritious foods, and ensuring you get adequate rest. Reflect on how these practices can be acts of worship, honoring the Creator who designed you. Philippians 4:13 reminds us, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Lean on God's strength and guidance as you pursue a healthy lifestyle, knowing that He is with you every step of the way.

Viewing physical fitness as worship transforms our approach to health and wellness. By recognizing our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, we commit to honoring God through our physical care. This stewardship not only glorifies God but also equips us to serve Him more effectively. Let us embrace the call to physical fitness with gratitude and dedication, knowing that as we honor God with our bodies, we reflect His image and fulfill our purpose. May our journey towards physical health be marked by a deeper understanding of worship and a stronger connection to our Creator.
