Man of God: What Does a Man of God Look Like?

DAY 3 OF 8

Men of God Honor Their Wives and Care for Them as God Expects

Men of God take responsibility for their roles as husbands and fathers. They are dedicated and hardworking, take time to rest, have a sense of humor, play with their children, talk to their wives, and enjoy God's good gifts with their families.

Men of God who are fathers pray for their children and wives; bring their children and wives' needs daily to God the Father and pray for their protection and spiritual growth; bless their families and pray persistently that God will keep them from the evil one and fill them with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18; 2 Thessalonians 3:3).

They don't make derogatory jokes about their wives, don't put their wives in a bad light in front of others (even if they claim to be joking when they do), do not compare their wives with other women, and don’t constantly talk about all the wonderful things that other women do.

These men live in holiness in His presence, honoring the marriage covenant they made with their wives.

Men of God do not dominate, belittle, or shout at their wives.

They honor and protect their wives.

A man of God loves his wife.

Men of God dedicate themselves to only one woman, live in a clean relationship with her, and do not give way to a third party.

As husbands, they are not ashamed to listen to their wives. They make a point of listening to what they say. They listen to their wives' opinions, and when they give good advice, these men are not too proud to respond.

Men of God love their wives as Jesus Christ loved the congregation—to the point where they are willing to die for their wives—because that is how much Jesus loves the Body (Ephesians 5:2 and 25).

God’s men, insofar as it depends on them, do not divorce their wives and make sure they do not arrive in heaven without their wives.

Men of God do not seek sympathy from other women and do not share their deepest secrets with other women. They live holy and pure toward other women and do not open doors to emotional connections and physical contact.

About this Plan

Man of God: What Does a Man of God Look Like?

We need men of God today. They must be men with God's character, sanctified, broken, humble, and serving their families, churches, and communities with integrity, purity, righteousness, and dignity. Such men will be like salt, bringing hope to the world and the people around them.
