Truth Be Told

DAY 8 OF 21

Have you ever been in a debate, argument, or a simple conversation with someone and the conclusion of it was the other person stating “Well… we can agree to disagree,” or “That may be your truth but it’s not mine so let’s just let it be.” While this may be a way to end the discussion on decent terms, it isn’t a true response. In our culture today, there has been a growing standard of my truth, your truth, their truth, Bob’s truth, Sally’s truth.

Everyone’s truth is “truth” for the sake of remaining neutral and avoiding conflict…at least that’s what society is teaching us. While reading this, you may even think of a few times when you have resorted to this response to avoid conflict with a friend or family member. You may have heard the following statement: Truth is relative. That statement in and of itself is an absolute statement, which seems a bit contradictory. Look, this can be difficult to understand at first... Let’s break it down.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, truth is the body of real events or facts; it is the state of being true. If something is a fact, there is nothing relative about it. What is true is set in stone, it’s real, and there is no proving it otherwise. Unlike what culture wants to teach us, truth is not according to what I say, what you say, or what whoever else says other than Jesus, God’s Word is absolute truth. Absolute truth means that there is no other way, there is nothing else to believe other than God and what His Word says. If it does not align with what God’s Word says then it is not truth. The “truths” of the world are fleeting and will not last but the Word of God endures forever, why? Because it is the ultimate and absolute truth.

This week, we are taking a look at how the enemy wants us to believe that truth is relative. When we believe that we can make our truths and decide whatis truth, even if it is half-truths, then we are not standing on the fact that God is the only truth we should believe. The enemy wants to slowly conform us to what the world believes so that we do not share the gospel so that we believe that the Gospel is what we believe but don’t think it’s what others have to or need to believe because their truth is their truth and the Gospel is ours. We become desensitized standing our ground on the Gospel and standing up for truth to keep “the peace.” This is exactly what the enemy wants, to get us to believe that the Gospel is okay not being shared because it is only the truth for Christians. However, God says the Gospel is for everyone and He wants EVERYONE to know who He is so they have the opportunity to believe in Him.

This week, pray that the Lord reveals the ways the enemy has been trying to conform you to relative truth and believe what is a lie.

About this Plan

Truth Be Told

In a world where truth is often seen as relative, this plan explores the unchanging truth found in Jesus Christ. In this series, we'll delve into how truth is not just a concept but a person—Jesus. By understanding and embracing this, we can live grounded in the truth that sets us free.
