The Power of ForgivenessSample
Purifying the Way You See Yourself
The way we view ourselves profoundly influences our ability to forgive. Jesus teaches us that "The eyes are the lamp of the body." If our eyes are healthy, our whole body will be full of light. This applies to how we see our mistakes and our lives. If we look at ourselves harshly, seeing only failures and errors, we sink into darkness. However, if we choose to see with eyes filled with light, Grace, and compassion, we become capable of seeing the possibility of forgiveness.
Looking at yourself with "pure" eyes means setting aside harsh judgment and relentless self-criticism. The pure gaze is one that acknowledges mistakes but also sees the potential for redemption and transformation. When we view our failures through a lens of mercy, we realize that we are not defined solely by our sins, but also by the Love and Grace of God, who always offers us a new chance.
This process of purifying our gaze is essential for self-forgiveness. Seeing yourself clearly, through the lens of Grace, allows you to look beyond mistakes and believe that you are worthy of starting again. This doesn’t mean ignoring the consequences of our actions, but rather recognizing that there is room for growth and change.
