Declaring God’s Praises as His Chosen People

Ambassadors have a process they work through before being chosen to represent their given country.

Generally speaking, they are chosen based on their experience, qualifications, and political considerations. The specific process can vary depending on the country and it includes processes such as nominations, appointments, confirmations, and swearing in which leads to an assignment and deployment. The process is extensive and has lots of moving pieces.

For the believer, the process is radically different. Instead of working through a bunch of steps and committees to earn some righteous approval, God comes to us and says, I want you. Reflecting upon this further, that is the part of the Gospel that I cannot wrap my head around.

When I look in the mirror I see a busted up, beaten and bruised, terrible decision-making, black-hearted sinner that deserves nothing but judgment, condemnation, and separation from the Father. Yet God, when He looks at me, and you, and everyone, says “I want that one”. Our Heavenly Father wants a relationship with His children and we are His special possession which is mind-blowing when you sit down and wrestle with that thought.

As His special possessions, we, as a good ambassador, must take steps every day to share the Goodness of God with others no matter the situation. This means that Sunday morning on a church pew may be a great way to get encouraged and equipped but after the final amen is when the true work begins. It shows up when you begin looking for opportunities to speak the truth at work, at the ball field with your children, at the grocery store, at family cookouts and so much more.

Declaring the praises of who they represent is what ambassadors do. I pray we all live our lives in such a bold manner that we remember our distinct call to take steps of obedience each and every day. You never know how the step you take today could be the one that opens the door for someone to escape the snares of the evil one and begin walking in the light of Christ. Embrace the calling, lean into being an ambassador for Jesus, and speak Truth boldly along your journey.
