Daily Bible Reading— October 2024, God’s Guiding Word: Justice and PeaceSample
October 9
Introduction
Psalm 73: Today’s reading begins with the writer describing the ways of the wicked and then moves on to the writer questioning God and seeking understanding. The psalm concludes with an affirmation of God’s justice and the comfort that is found by being near to God.
Today’s Key Verse: Psalm 73:28
As for me, how wonderful to be near God, to find protection with the Sovereign LORD and to proclaim all that he has done!
Reflect
According to verses 4–12, how does the writer describe the wicked? Reread verses 13–17. With what thoughts is the writer struggling? According to the concluding verses (21–28), what brings the writer comfort and hope? How does the writer’s focus affect his attitude? How would you describe the overall tone of this psalm? What verses resonate with you?
Pray
Sovereign God, there are times I question your ways. Thank you for your faithfulness, and for the peace I feel when I am near you in the security of your love. You are there to guide me with your instruction, strengthening me each day. Empower me to proclaim all that you have done. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 75: God is a righteous judge.
