We need to understand that fear is not always a negative thing for humans. God has given us the ability to fear for our own benefit and protection. Although fear is often a dangerous ENEMY, it can also be a FRIEND to man.
For example, fear helps us AVOID THINGS THAT CAN HARM US. Fear helps us drive cautiously, stay away from addictions, avoid legal trouble, and refrain from relationships that do not please God.
God’s Word teaches that Christians must LIVE WITH THE FEAR OF GOD.
But what does it mean to fear God?
It means living with reverence for God’s power and holiness, and distancing ourselves from anything that does not please Him (Proverbs 8:13).
God’s Word also promises great blessings to those who live with the fear of God:
- •It keeps us away from things that destroy us (Proverbs 14:27).
- •It brings peace and security (Proverbs 19:23 – “The fear of the Lord leads to life and rest”).
About this Plan
In this five-day Bible plan, we will explore how the spirit of fear impacts our lives and our relationship with God. Based on 2 Timothy 1:7, we will learn how to confront fear with the power, love, and self-discipline that God gives us. Through biblical reflections and practical teachings, we will discover how faith in Jesus helps us live without fear and with courage.
