The Happy Days and the Ones That Aren't

DAY 3 OF 21

Have you ever felt the need to act like everything was okay when everything was, in fact, very much not okay? We all feel the need to put on a happy face at times, don’t we? That’s because there are seasons in our lives where joy is hard to find. Our circumstances and struggles make happiness or joy feel just out of reach. And you know what? That’s okay!

It’s okay to feel all of what we’re feeling -- both sadness and sorrow-- because that’s part of what makes us human. But the good news is Scripture reminds us that those feelings don’t have to be the end of the story. They’re not where we have to stay! Instead, as followers of Jesus, we can find hope in any season. While we may struggle some days to feel okay, we can be confident knowing God is still working. In our most difficult moments or hardest emotions, God is present to comfort us, give us hope, and be there until the feeling changes.

Today, be honest about your feelings with God — the good, the bad, and everything in between! Talk to God about what’s happening in your life and what you’re feeling as a result. Then pray that you’ll feel God’s presence with you to give you comfort and hope no matter what you’re feeling.

About this Plan

The Happy Days and the Ones That Aren't

A high school devotional designed to help students understand and unpack what happiness looks like. In this devotional, you’ll find wisdom to see how true happiness in the Kingdom of God is less about our circumstances or feelings and more about learning to trust and lean on God in all things.
