The Happy Days and the Ones That Aren'tSample
Our world constantly tells us that we need what we need now. We only order on Amazon to get the fastest delivery. We always use a mobile order for our morning coffee so we don’t have to wait in line. We only watch shows we can binge without commercials. Today, waiting isn’t really an option for us. That’s what makes navigating our way through big feelings even more difficult. When we’re feeling things we don’t want to deal with, we want to push past them quickly. But that’s ultimately not the best way to get where we ultimately want to go.
If we want to find contentment or a deep sense of happiness, we have to make room for all the feelings that get us there. The secret to contentment isn’t that we never have difficult experiences or negative emotions. Rather, it’s that we trust that God is working in us over time and in all our other feelings. Sure, it may take a minute, but when we get to contentment, we’ll be glad we let God work it out!
Today, talk to your Small Group about what contentment means in your season. Then, encourage each other to be patient as you let God work in your life to help you find that contentment, both now and as you grow.
