3 Money Declarations That Will Make God Your CFO

DAY 2 OF 3

Hey friend!

We discovered yesterday the truth about God being our provider and we declared it over our lives, so today, we’re going to focus on stewardship.

Our time, our talents, and even our money are all gifts from God. And as Christians, we've got a special job to do with all of it. We're called to be faithful stewards.

But what does it look like to be faithful? And how do we actually do it when it comes to our finances?

We should start by asking, “What does God expect of us?” In 1 Corinthians 4, Paul talks about being a servant of Christ who is entrusted with explaining the mysteries of God. Then he says something interesting in verse 4, "Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful."

So God doesn’t expect us to be perfect with the things He entrusts us with… but He does want us to be faithful.

So when it comes to finances, He expects us to handle them with integrity, honesty, and a commitment to using them in a way that makes Him proud.

Being a faithful steward isn't about becoming rich or showing off our financial success.

It's about remembering that everything we have actually belongs to God. It's about managing it wisely, like we're taking care of something precious that He's entrusted to us.

Think back on Genesis 1:28. It says, “God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” From the beginning, we can see that God entrusted His people to steward His resources well!

So, what does wise stewardship look like in practice?

Proverbs 21:20 gives us a clue: "There is desirable treasure, and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man squanders it." In other words, wise stewardship means making smart financial decisions. That might mean creating a budget, or staying away from unnecessary debt, saving for the future, and investing wisely.

It's so easy to get caught up in the moment and spend money on things we want right now, but as faithful stewards, we've got to learn to delay that instant gratification. We've got to make choices that line up with our long-term financial goals and values.

So, let’s make our declaration to be faithful stewards and remind ourselves of what is most important:

"Lord, I declare that I am a faithful steward of the resources You have given me because You will help me to manage my finances wisely and in a way that honors You. I know You will guide my heart and actions so that I may be found faithful."
