Working for God's GlorySample
Working for God
We have reached the end of the week, during which we examined biblical principles to work for God’s glory.
At the beginning of the week, we stressed the importance of not compromising our beliefs at work while also finding creative solutions to issues, as Daniel did. We should be respectful to our earthly bosses and work as if we are working for God. We should not be hardheaded when our beliefs are challenged but rather seek a solution that works for all.
The following day, we examined integrity and how we should be blameless before God and others. We looked at how Daniel was a man of integrity, and the only misguided opportunity his enemies could find to attack him was his absolute devotion to God. Daniel was resolute through prayer and faith; in the end, he prevailed over his enemies.
On Wednesday, we reviewed why it is crucial to work in excellence. We don't work for man; we work for God alone. Although tempting, don't become a “quiet quitter.” Pray to God when you face challenging situations, including God in the details of our lives and workdays.
After discussing doing our best at work, we also explored being more compassionate in the workplace. We discussed the biblical story of Ruth and Boaz. We saw what it meant to be compassionate to someone considered an outcast by society. Jesus was the ultimate example of compassion, and we should model our lives (including at work) after Him.
And yesterday, we looked at serving others at work. We concluded that we should not isolate ourselves because of our beliefs but work to receive an inheritance from God. Many people need help all around us. We could consider adopting a servant leadership style for those leading teams. We should step outside our comfort zone to be a light to our fellow image-bearers.
In all of this, we seek to glorify God through our work, following His Word and the way of Christ as we do.
Prayer: Dear Father, may the devotionals read this week provide insight and inspiration to all men. Bless each man who joined in this week. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Reflection: Take a moment to reflect on two biblical principles that we explored this past week that will help you approach work differently this coming week.
