Jonah

DAY 28 OF 28

Psalm 5 declares war against the enemies of the Lord. Jonah actually calls upon this and other Psalms in his discourse with God. However, when we read from the author of Jonah’s perspective, we can see that sometimes we might stand as the enemy of the Lord when we curse our own enemies. At the end of the Psalm David releases his anger and says Let ALL who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that ALL who love your name may be filled with joy. What would it look like to stand in the face of anger or war and choose love for our enemies instead?

About this Plan

Jonah

Jonah is a somewhat unique book because rather than focusing on Jonah's message, it focuses on his own story. In an age where many are deconstructing or questioning their faith because of perceiving God to be too strict, harsh, or un-loving (especially in the Old Testament), Jonah’s story stands as an example of God’s great love for humanity and redemptive purpose for the salvation of the whole world.
