Overcoming Scarcity Mindset & Embracing God's GoodnessSample
Day 3: Embracing the Abundance of God's Goodness
It's hard to hold goodness when things don't feel good. It's hard to believe in the abundance of goodness when you're not sure you're experiencing it. It's hard to believe God is good if you don't know He is good.
In a world marked by both joy and sorrow, it can be challenging to maintain an expectation of God's goodness. Yet the psalmist expresses confidence in seeing the goodness of the Lord not only in the afterlife but also in the here and now. We believe that Psalm 27 was written as David was fleeing for his life from a murderous Saul. From David's perspective, nothing about that moment can be described as good.
David expresses that the source of goodness is not found in his situation; it's found in the presence of God. He is not holding back his fear and worry, but also choosing to remember God's goodness and nature. There is hope and confidence that he will experience goodness despite the situation. David believes this because he knows the abundance of goodness that God has to offer.
He has this perspective that invites us to live with hopeful anticipation, returning to the nature and character of who God is and what God promises us as a source of goodness.
Reflection: Reflect on moments when you have experienced God's tangible goodness in your life. How did these moments shape your faith? How can you cultivate an expectancy mindset, believing more goodness will come?
Prayer: Gracious God, thank You for the abundance of Your goodness that sustains me daily. Renew my hope and confidence in Your promises, knowing that Your goodness knows no bounds. Help me to live with expectancy, eagerly anticipating the blessings You have in store for me. Amen.
