Overcome the Mind Ambush - 5 Steps to Find Peace in the NoiseSample

Overcome the Mind Ambush - 5 Steps to Find Peace in the Noise

DAY 2 OF 5

Notice What You Are Noticing

There’s something empowering about knowing yourself well enough to know how you operate as a spiritual being having a human experience.

I really wish someone had helped me to identify the ways in which my spiritual senses operated. I guess though there wasn’t a lot of language or understanding around this kind of conversation when I was a kid and like for most of us, it’s been a growing space of revelation with the Lord through relationship.

I love that about this journey, we discover more about our unique selves and who we are becoming as we spend time with the Lord building connection and having those beautiful real-life experiences WITH Him.

For example, I didn’t know that my ‘knower’ knew things that my understanding didn’t bring to my awareness. I also didn’t know that I was highly receptive to spiritual atmospheres until the day I noticed I had gone into the bank happy and then had come out of the bank angry. I was just doing my everyday chores with my children, and later in the day I ‘noticed’ that I was experiencing a level of anger in every conversation that I was having.

When I took a step back and retraced my steps in my mind, looking for my joy and peace, I noticed that I had left them behind in the bank. How is this possible?

Well, in conversation with Holy Spirit, I came to understand that I had walked into someone else’s spiritual eco-system and picked up their anger. That anger was now playing havoc with my thoughts and emotions. I was amazed that I could do that, and even more amazed to learn that I had the capacity, through Jesus, to shift and change that anger to peace.

It was from that moment on that I learned a valuable lesson, to always check myself, my thoughts and feelings, and to notice what I’m noticing as I go throughout the day. When I notice my countenance changing, there is likely to be something else going on. Holy Spirit was indeed teaching me spiritual lessons experientially.

Friend, how freeing is it to know that not ALL the noise is yours? You may well be picking up on spiritual atmospheres that are operating around you, in other people or in your region. Holy Spirit is keen to give you insight into what is operating so you can be the answer and release His peace and presence instead.

Activation:

This is a fun activation that you can do regularly.

Just like you can notice your feet in your shoes, or the breeze blowing your hair, you can notice what you are thinking.

When you notice that your thoughts are heading in a wrong direction, pause and ask the Lord, "Are these my thoughts?" Listen to His answer and then take a moment to go back and find where you left your peace. You'll be surprised by what you discover.

Declarations:

I live undisturbed in heavenly peace because I choose to always listen to the Lord. Proverbs 1:33

God’s perfect, absolute peace surrounds me because my imagination is consumed by Him and I confidently trust in Him. Isaiah 26:3
