A Faith Refined

DAY 3 OF 3

Pray in Faith

As a child, I’d always had a sensitive stomach. There have been moments in my life when I feel the enemy attack me, giving me debilitating pain or nausea which makes it difficult to function in my daily life. For about two weeks, my stomach was really giving me trouble. Although I was in pain, I made it to a meeting my church was having with our District Superintendent. He talked about the great miracles he had witnessed during his time on the mission field. At the end of his talk, I felt compelled to ask him and the elders to lay hands on me and pray for my healing. Although I've not seen many miracles occur in our church, my compulsion to ask for prayer was not coming from me.

As the leaders and the District Superintendent laid hands on me, I felt a warm sensation on one section of my shoulder. It became so warm I asked, “whose hand is this,” as I tapped on one of the hands. “It’s mine,” the District Superintendent replied. After they were done, the debilitating pain vanished. I went home completely pain free.

If I'm honest, I've read through the many miracles of Jesus throughout the Gospels. I have secretly yearned to see the same miracles Jesus and his disciples performed during his time on earth happen regularly within a church service. Although I've not seen many happen throughout my time in various churches, I do know one thing:

God is a God of miracles. I'm living proof of that.

I don’t know why on that day or in that moment he chose to heal me. I'm just grateful that he did. It's difficult to believe that God is a God of miracles today, especially if we don't see many happening. It is tough to read about all these wonderful miracles in the Gospels, only to find our church services not seeing any miracles at all.

God still wants us to pray in faith, assured that God is still in control, he's on the throne, and he still heals. It is not our job to decide when or who gets this miracle, we're only asked to pray in faith that he will do these things.

Place your hope in God. Pray in faith that he will do the impossible.
