Love Letters to My Daughters

DAY 10 OF 10

RECOGNIZING YOURSELF IN HIM

My Dearest Daughter,

During this time called your single season, I want you to get to know me and seek to know what I desire for you. Many impostors will try to take you off course and make you feel like how I made you wasn’t perfect. They may try to take advantage of your beautiful heart to keep you from trusting me and your discernment. The enemy knows our relationship is important to me. It’s something I created in the very beginning because I honor relationships. The same way I took the time and gave my full attention to create the wildflowers is the way I put time and attention into creating you—if not more!

People who don’t know me and the way I work will fuss over appearances or will try to talk you out of what I called you to be, but know I am the truth that will set you free. So press in, my beautiful darling, and know I made you so mysteriously complex. Your beauty is marvelously breathtaking. I know everything about you because I put a lot of me in you, and to know yourself better takes getting to know me.

Rejoice in this time alone with me. Know that I want you to be in a partnership with someone, but I also want to make sure you love them with a Godlike love so there’s no more hurt or destroyed godly relationships. Our time together will strengthen you in my love and grace and peace with an ability to communicate how you feel rather than running from things called to build you.

Love,
Your Father

Read Psalm 139:14 and Luke 12:28-38.

My Sister,

So often, society, aka the world, can make us forget who we are. We live in a world where the love of self is more glorified than loving God. We leave him out of the process, not realizing to truly love ourselves is to know and love him. During my single season, especially during the pandemic, I took the time to do the work (the ugly work!) and get to know the Lord, so I not only fell more in love with myself but with him too.

You can’t self-love without God. He is a part of your makeup, and you can’t truly tend to the relationships he is granting you without knowing how to truly love him. When you don’t, strife, confusion, unforgiveness, and other negative experiences will enter into a relationship that’s meant to be sacred. I’m not saying you won’t have disagreements when you love God, but you will now know how to handle them and love through them.

The enemy loves to send counterfeits to cause us problems and make us not trust or not want to love again. I know this because my many years of failed relationships with friends and men showed that I would settle for any attention I was receiving. When they didn’t reciprocate the amount of love I was giving, I assumed that was what I deserved. But I (and you) deserve nothing less than the love of God, and that’s a mighty love. Of course, some will fall short, but we want to pray for godly relationships with people who are seeking him the way we are and learning to love the way he desires us to. This part of the work is imperative for your next level in life. You will renounce the word curse, which is not of God, and learn to forgive and extend grace to those who need it.

I gained twenty-plus pounds during the pandemic, and I had to decide if he made me in his image. If I don’t like what I see when I look in the mirror, then we have a problem. I am supposed to see him in me, but I won’t beat myself up. I will just change my behavior.

This week, be honest with yourself. What are some of the things you need to stop doing to be in a better relationship with God or yourself? Maybe it’s turning off the TV and sitting with him quietly or taking better care of your body. Journal your thoughts about the change you want in your life.

Love, Camara

Day 9

About this Plan

Love Letters to My Daughters

Ever wondered what a love letter from God feels like? Seven years ago, I began journaling my conversations with Him, finding comfort and reminders that I'm never alone. During the pandemic, God guided me to publish "Love Letters to My Daughters." Initially nervous about sharing my personal journal entries, I found courage in Revelation 12:11 (NLT): "And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony..." Take this journey with me and let God, the love of our lives, guide us most beautifully.
