Three Keys to a Winning Culture

DAY 1 OF 3

Three Keys to a Winning Culture: Part I

Former Chick-fil-a executive, Mark Miller, discovered three words to help any organization build a stronger culture. The first word Mark emphasized was Aspire.

You need to paint a picture for your team of what culture you aspire to for your organization. They can’t start building the culture you want if your teams has no idea what the end goal is.

Mark shared that Truett Cathy told the same customer service stories to each group because he wanted to consistently emphasize what he aspired Chick-fil-a’s culture to become.

In 1 Thessalonians 4, Paul wrote about his aspirations for the Thessalonians, “But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you.”

It isn’t only your employees who need a vision, you do too. However, that is not to say your plans have to be excessively grandiose. You can have a simple mission and a simple goal and “live quietly” as Paul encouraged so long as it is clear and communicated well.

Develop a picture of what your culture could look like and share it frequently with your team.

Questions for Reflection

  • What do you want for your business? What would a day running your dream business look like? What parts of your dream have you already achieved?
  • How could you simplify what you want your business to look like? Do you have a couple specific stories you could share?
